The Sweet Heart Bible Study: Be The Light |The Honey Bulb

As a Christian, I find it’s super important for those around me to recognize me as a Sweet Heart! Why? Because to me, being a Sweet Heart is much more meaningful than what it may appear!

In the first segment of The Sweet Heart Bible Study , I explained how to me, being a Sweet Heart takes having the right recipe and ingredients!

Have you ever tried the most delicious cake and thought “I just have to have the recipe!”

Well to me, having a Sweet Heart is very much the same! This takes practice and the right recipe!

To me, these are the key ingredients that are important in being a Sweet Heart in my life:

  • Sweet Heart is someone who authentically lives out the Fruit of the Spirit.
  • Sweet Heart is someone who’s always ready to be a light.
  • Sweet Heart always loves.
  • Sweet Heart is an optimist, an encourager. A Sweet Heart always has faith.
  • And as a Sweet Heart I know I can do all things through Christ because He gives me the strength and ability to do so!

But of course, what are ingredients in a recipe if you don’t have the right instructions?

Well, In the first segment I went over the first ingredient “A Sweet Heart Authentically lives out the Fruit of the Spirit.”

Today’s Segment?

Ingredient #2: A Sweet Heart is someone who’s always ready to be a light.

Be The Light

“You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. And people don’t hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand so the light shines for all the people in the house. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven.” Mathew 5:14-16

In the passage above Jesus tells us that as His followers, we are the light that gives light to the world!

Being a light is super sweet!

Ephesians 4:19 explains it this way, “Light brings every kind of goodness, right living, and truth…”

So how can we be sure that we are being a Light to those around us?

By being an example to others of goodness, right living, and truth!

“…be an example to the believers with your words, your actions, your love, your faith, and your pure life.” 1 Timothy 4:12

I love this passage above from 1 Timothy 4 because it gives us a checklist of what being an example to others is all about!

Being a light means that you speak life with your words in the lives of those around you! Your actions are always pleasing and encouraging and give life to those who are around you!

Being a light means your love is real and authentic!

You are continually living out your faith and always ready to help others with their faith in God as well!

And last of all, being a light means your life is pure and honoring to the LORD!

At the end of Ephesians 4:19 it declares “Try to learn what pleases the LORD.”

“…whoever obeys the commands and teaches other people to obey them will be great in the kingdom of heaven.” Mathew 4:18

Reading the Word of God continually and making a habit of putting into practice what we read each day helps us strengthen our Sweet Hearts and continually be a light!

We are the light that gives light to the world! This is so amazing to think about and even greater to live out!

To me, part of being a Sweet Heart means I’m always ready to be a light!

Dear LORD, Thank you for giving me Your Word and Your Spirit that equips me with everything I need to be the light that gives light to the world. Open my eyes to those around me who need me to shine your light! Thank you for sending your Son Jesus to show us what it takes to be the light of the world! Help us to follow your example and always be an example of your light and goodness! In Jesus name, I pray Amen!
