Stand Up For Yourself |The Honey Bulb

Our thoughts are extremely powerful! Did you know that? They can either make us feel powerful, strong and invincible, or they can bring us down and defeat us.

How can we overcome negative thought patterns before they become debilitating?

I believe that we need to recognize that we need to stand up for ourselves against those negative thoughts!

I personally believe that the key to winning over our own negative thought patterns and self-defeat is found in Christ!

I have found that when God speaks to me, He speaks through repetition and I love that!

As a Marketing Major, I quickly learned that repetition can be a powerful movement!

I learned that to really make a brand or organization known and impactful to the public you need to make it seen repeatedly because we truly embrace and fully understand a message through repetition!

When I allow negative thoughts to repeat in my mind I am letting them form a stronghold that may become stronger for me to tear down on my own.

That is why I love that when my mind begins to swirl with negative thoughts, God reminds me of the messages He’s already spoken into my heart, as well as new ones He’s speaking into my life!

In 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 the Bible says:

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…”

If you’ve read my other devotionals here on The Honey Bulb you may notice that I have been speaking in abundance about getting rid of fear and timidity, because that is exactly what I have been working on in my own life!

I am learning that God wants me to stand up for myself against negative thought patterns as 2 Corinthians 10 explains, and embrace His truth instead!

When I first started this journey I really felt God’s leading when I read the book of 1 Timothy.

I love the way Paul mentored Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:11-16 and it was like God was speaking to me the same thing!

Command and teach these things. Do not let anyone treat you as if you are unimportant because you are young. Instead, be an example to the believers with your words, your actions, your love, your faith, and your pure lifeUntil I come, continue to read the Scriptures to the people, strengthen them, and teach them. Use the gift you have, which was given to you through prophecy when the group of elders laid their hands on you. Continue to do those things; give your life to doing them so your progress may be seen by everyoneBe careful in your life and in your teaching. If you continue to live and teach rightly, you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.”  1 Timothy 4:11-16

The point isn’t that I am showcasing myself, but I am learning from God, and I want to share that with everyone so that the same joy I experience, can be experienced by all those who listen as well!

The Honey Bulb is all about growth! Hence the word Bulb! A Bulb is a seed. And as Christ is my Living Water and God is The Gardener I believe He is watering me with His Word and Leading, Cleaning and Trimming me so that I can grow stronger each and every day!

So when those negative thoughts come up against me I can go back to 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 and pull down those strongholds by standing up for myself!

“And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing.” Ephesians 6:13

So Stand!
