Smoothies To Try Before the Summer Ends |The Honey Bulb

berries-blackberries-close-up-434295Smoothies are always a fun way to add health to your day, especially during the Summer! Although the Fall season is just around the corner, here are the perfect smoothie recipes to try before the Summer ends!

Before we start getting into the recipes here are my tips and recommendations for the perfect smoothie.

Tips for the Perfect Smoothie

No Portion Sizes

My first tip is that I don’t actually use the same portion size of fruits every time! Depending if I’m blending my smoothies in a cup or a pitcher, I like to add the amount of fruit, milk, or yogurt that will give me the strongest flavor and consistency. So, for example, if I’m making a mango and pineapple smoothie but want a stronger pineapple taste, I would definitely add more pineapples than mango. You’ll see in my smoothie recipes that I don’t include the portion sizes because each time you create a smoothie you can make it the way you would most enjoy it!

I Don’t Add Ice

I find that when I add ice to my smoothies, they end up watering down the flavor. What I do instead is add frozen fruit, which still keeps my smoothies cool, but never watered down!

Frozen Fruit

I mentioned this in my previous tip, but the frozen fruit really does make all the difference in your smoothie! My tip is going to your local grocery store and picking up some bags of pre-cut frozen fruit. This will save you time and make your smoothies taste amazing and effortless!

Well now that you have those tips, here are the recipes for your perfect summer smoothies:

Perfect Summer Smoothies

Tropical Fruits Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • Frozen Mango Chunks
  • Frozen Pineapple Chunks
  • Shredded Coconut
  • Your Choice Milk or Yogurt
  • 1 whole Banana
  • Honey

Directions:

Start with adding your fruits, next add the honey and shredded coconut. Lastly, add your choice of Milk or Yogurt

Note: If you want a smoothie with a thicker consistency, add milk half way. The more milk you add the thinner your smoothie will be.

Next, depending on your blender settings, choose Frozen Drink/Smoothie, or blend on high. I would recommend if you have a Ninja, to blend on the Frozen Drink/Smoothie setting twice. If you are blending your smoothie on High, I would recommend blending until you see the consistency is smooth and there are no visible pieces of fruit left.

What I love about this smoothie is that because of the tropical fruit combinations and coconut, this smoothie is extremely flavorful, perfect as an afternoon drink option!

Berry Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • Frozen Blueberry
  • Frozen Rasberry
  • Frozen Strawberry
  • 1 whole Banana
  • Your Choice Milk or Yogurt
  • Honey

Directions:

Start with adding your fruit. Next, add your honey and then your choice of Milk or Yogurt. Blend your smoothie on high or on Frozen Drink/Smoothie setting. Follow the same speed directions from previously noted and you’ll have your perfect berry smoothie!

I love this berry smoothie, especially for breakfast! This is one of the first smoothie options I started out making and I still love to this day. I love how the combination of berries provide me with just the right amount of energy to fuel my day!

Mango, Pineapple, and Cantaloupe Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • Frozen Mango Chunks
  • Frozen Pineapple Chunks
  • Cantaloupe Chunks
  • 1 Whole Banana
  • Honey
  • Your choice Milk or Yogurt

Start by adding your fruits. Next, add honey and your choice Milk or Yogurt. Blend on High or Frozen Drink/Smoothie setting. Follow the same speed directions as noted in the Tropical Fruit Smoothie and you’ll have your perfect smoothie.

This is one of my favorite smoothies because the combination of mango, pineapple, and cantaloupe make the smoothie sweet and tasty! I would have to say that this smoothie is perfect for any part of your day!
